Currently being a huge fan with the books as well as a chronic cynic; I had a lot of worries when I heard they were generating the series; how would they bring these books to film and do them justice. My largest concern was the tough task the actors were handed. The books are written from the POV's of numerous characters; each chapter having a designated character. Which means you are inside the head of the character for every one of the events during the books. You find out the character's traits and motivations by means of their thoughts. This certainly can't be done on film, so it comes down for the actors to portray what these characters are going by way of with no the audience being able to hear their thoughts. I cannot name a single actor that fails at this. This cast is exceptional. When your character speaks a language produced for that show; it becomes even more tough to portray that character. Mr Momoa does it so efficiently you want to stop studying the subtitles and watch him complete.
Yet another thing I was concerned about was the scope of the world and giving an correct portrayal on film. There are a lot of descriptive locations in the books that required to be shown to tell the stories. The spots had been remarkable. Most extraordinary to me have been the Wall and the Eyrie; both whose attributes will not be only difficult to portray; but essential for the story. The Sky Prison was just as I pictured.
I was hooked and spent 3 days watching the entire Game of Thrones Seasons 1-2 DVD Box set last month. This lead me to purchase and study all of the books released up to now. I'm eagerly awaiting season 2 as well as even though I've read the books it wont diminish my pleasure as I understand the producers can and can do justice to this epic tale.
Thank you HBO, effectively completed and please do not stop until George RR Martin writes the last book and you have delivered us the whole story, I look forward to a number of many years of good Television.
